So for guys who have tried 300 and sold the upper or those who swear by it and shoot cast exclusively, what's your opinion?įor those who shoot gas checked traditionally lubed boolits suppressed how bad is leading, given most cans are sealed? In my case I'm just not really seeing the benefit or upside to the switch, without SBR's or suppressors in the mix. No suppressors in IL, don't want to SBR and wait 9-12 months only to ask permission to take it out of state, or buy a pistol lower and build a complete AR for the short barrel. I ask because I'm thinking I would have to really love this cartridge to put the work in to replace my home defense AR's barrel which likely isn't gonna happen, or build a brand new upper which is just the beginning of a very expensive and work intensive adventure into another caliber, which for me would fill a plinker role with a 16" barrel. Some people love a bullet mold, for others it won't chamber anywhere near correct OAL. Super vs subsonic preference means picking the right barrel gas configuration, requires specific AR mags due to the bullets ogive, trimmed/formed case necks may need to be reamed if they're too thick, and looks like chamber throats vary considerably between manufacturers. It's billed as a simple barrel switch but I'm seeing it's not so simple when you get down to brass tacks. Been reading a few sites and doing some reading over the past few days, and starting to wonder how guys with 300 blk are liking it once the "something new" itch has been scratched.
